While I won’t get to take in a match at Highmark Stadium, home of USL side Pittsburgh Riverhounds, during the tour, I did make it a priority to stop by what is arguably one of the coolest soccer stadiums in the country.
Highmark Stadium is a 3,500 seater situated in Pittsburgh’s Station Square on the bank of the Monongahela River. It features a main grandstand, a supporters section behind one goal, and, most importantly, a sensational view of the Pittsburgh skyline.

Two of my friends, former Fort Lauderdale Strikers defenders Gale Agbossoumonde and Ryan Adeleye, now ply their trades for the Riverhounds. In the morning of Memorial Day, I was able to watch the club train and poke my nose around the ground.
This in particular was a beautiful touch.

After training, Gale took me out to lunch and then to the top of Mt. Washington to get some incredible views of the city before I was to attend my first-ever Major League Baseball game later in the day.

Thanks to the generosity of one of my Patrons, Kim Daboo, Ryan and I were able to watch the Pirates. And if you think the skyline from Highmark Stadium is something, wait until you see this…
