This is a quick story, but one worth telling. It was Sunday afternoon and I was proudly sporting the new Tampa Bay Rowdies jersey that was generously given to me by the club following its victory over Montreal Impact on Saturday.
Five Below was beckoning me as I needed to purchase a cassette player adapter for the van. Om my way across the parking lot, a man notices my green-and-gold attire and starts humming the famous Rowdies theme song in my general direction.
I get to chatting with the older gentleman who tells me that back in 1975 he was Ralph Rowdie, the club’s moustached mascot. I promptly asked for a selfie.
Guy spots my jersey in a parking lot and starts humming the @TampaBayRowdies tune. Turns out he was the original Ralph Rowdie back in 1975. pic.twitter.com/aHceqDEuB3
